A man who was charged with aggravated murder has had the charge dropped as the government deported the key witness against him. Daniel Mercado was going to testify against Jaime Gallegos in relation to a 2009 shooting outside a bar, but before the trial Mercado was arrested on an unrelated charge. After Mercado was released from jail, he was then deported. The man charged with murder is now free.
