A Sarasota, Florida homicide detective has reportedly been fired after he declared himself a sovereign citizen. Tom Laughlin reportedly filed court documents in April that had him renouncing his U.S. citizenship and claimed he was not subject to federal law and no longer had to pay taxes. Laughlin reportedly plans to appeal this matter as he was accused of associating with hate groups and of not answering questions honestly.
