Citizenship

If a person is not a natural born citizen of the U.S., and they wish to become a citizen, they must go through a process called naturalization.  Before a person can go through the process of naturalization, they must meet certain requirements such as:  they must be 18 years of age at the time of filing, they must be a legal permanent resident of the U.S., they must have resided in the U.S. for 90 days less than 5 years at the time of filing, they must be a person of good moral character, and they must pass a test that pertains to U.S. history and government. During the test, applicants are asked 10 out of 96 questions, and they must answer 6 questions correctly to pass.

People who are naturalized citizens are not considered natural born citizens.  Naturalized citizens are allowed to run for and hold political offices, but they are not allowed to run for the office of or become the President of the United States.
