A Green Card holder is a non-citizen who has been granted the right to live and work in the U.S. As proof of their legal authorization for living the country, they are granted a permanent resident card, also known as a Green Card. If you want your girlfriend to also be able to receive permanent residency, there are several ways in which she may go about doing so. First is through family. If she has any immediate relatives in the U.S., such as parents or brothers or sisters, she could apply through this route. Another way she could receive a Green Card is through a job offer. If there are not enough U.S. workers who are able or willing to fulfill a certain job, the job can be offered to a non-citizen. Also, if she also qualifies as a refugee or asylee, she could be granted residency on those grounds.
